Traffic Signal Work to Trigger Evening Lane Closures on U.S. 41 at Approaches to U.S. 301 and Osprey Avenue, Tues., July 27 to Thurs., July 29

SARASOTA, FL (July 22, 2010) –  Weather permitting, traffic signal adjustments will trigger lane closures on U.S. 41 in both directions at all approaches to the U.S. 41/Osprey Avenue and U.S. 41/U.S. 301 interchanges after 8:00 pm, Tuesday, July 27 through Thursday, July 29.
In addition to impacting traffic on U.S. 41, this work is also expected to cause slight delays for motorists as they approach U.S. 41 from Osprey Avenue and U.S. 301 in both directions.
This work is part of an $18.3 million Florida Department of Transportation project that has already expanded southbound U.S. 41 from Osprey Avenue to the U.S. 41/U.S. 301 interchange from two to three lanes.
The project also provides for major improvements along the 2.65 mile segment of U.S 301 (Washington Boulevard) from Wood Street to Myrtle Street in downtown Sarasota, including the recently completed reconstruction of the U.S. 301/Fruitville Road intersection and the expansion of U.S. 301 between the railroad tracks and Myrtle Street from four to six lanes.
Motorists are reminded to exercise extra caution while driving through the U.S. 301 Downtown Sarasota construction zone.   For more information, go to the Web site at www.myus301Sarasota.com or contact the Public Information Officer at 941-232-5590.
