Work Week Starting August 1, 2010

Myrtle Street to DeSoto Road – Depending on the weather, motorists traveling on southbound U.S. 301 (Washington Boulevard) between DeSoto Road and Myrtle Street are expected to face intermittent lane closures, 7:00 pm to 5:00 am the following day, Sunday, Aug. 1 through Friday, Aug. 6 for the installation of storm drains. The exact location of the lane closure, if needed, will change from night to night and the work will have no impact on northbound U.S. 301 traffic. Construction activities on this week’s schedule that will be done without closing lanes include retention pond excavation, the extension of a box culvert, utility relocation, and clearing and grubbing. Entrances to businesses in the construction zone, including those where temporary barrier walls have been installed to protect workers, remain open and accessible to motorists.  Motorists are reminded to observe the posted speed limit and to drive with extra caution in the work zone for the protection of themselves, construction workers and pedestrians, including bicyclists. Fines are doubled for speeding infractions in the construction zone while workers are present.
