Work Week Starting July 25, 2010
Myrtle Street to DeSoto Road – Depending on the weather, motorists traveling on southbound U.S. 301 (Washington Boulevard) between DeSoto Road and Myrtle Street may face intermittent lane closures, 7:00 pm to 5:00 am the following day, Sunday, July 25 through Friday, July 30 for the installation of storm drains. The exact location of the lane closure, if needed, is expected to change from night to night and the work will have no impact on northbound U.S. 301 traffic. Construction activities on this week’s schedule that will be done without closing lanes include retention pond excavation, the extension of a box culvert, utility relocation, removal of the old U.S. 301 southbound road bed and clearing and grubbing. Entrances to businesses in the construction zone, including those where temporary barrier walls are in place, remain open and accessible to motorists. Motorists are reminded to observe the posted speed limit and to drive with extra caution in the construction zone for the protection of themselves, construction workers and pedestrians, including bicyclists. Fines are doubled for speeding infractions in the construction zone while workers are present.
