Wood Street to Myrtle Street – Weather permitting, one northbound lane of U.S. 301 (Washington Boulevard) at different points between Myrtle Street and 12th Street will be closed 6:30 pm to 6:00 am the following day, Sunday, July 25 through Friday, July 30 for the installation of temporary asphalt pavement. Traffic will be shifted to the temporary lane after the new southbound U.S. 301 travel lane between Myrtle Street and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Way is paved and striped. Evening lane closures also will be in place on U.S. 301 in both directions at different points between the railroad tracks and north of 12th Street for installing curbs, paving the new outside travel lanes and installing drainage structures; on U.S. 301 in both directions between Wood Street and 10th Street for installing streetlight foundations and sidewalk replacement; and at the U.S. 41/Osprey Avenue and the U.S. 41/U.S. 301 intersections for traffic signal work. Construction activities not requiring lane closures includes installation of the limerock base for the new southbound U.S. 301 travel lane between Myrtle Street and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, installation of stabilizer for the new southbound U.S. 301 lane between Dr. MLK Way and 21st Street, installation of streetlights along U.S. 301 south of Myrtle Street, and retention pond excavation. Business entrances in the construction zone, including those where temporary barrier walls are in place, are open and accessible to motorists. Drivers should obey the posted speed limit and drive with extra caution to protect themselves, construction workers and pedestrians, including bicyclists.
